NEW SENIOR RESERVE TEAM CREATED

THis week the club fielded a senior reserve team in a friendly game against Super League side Ballisodare United. This is the first time in over ten years the club fielded such a side so well done to all involved.

The club were delighted with to host some of the Connacht under age boys finals in Strandhill on Sunday morning last. With beautiful weather and the pitches in top class condition thanks to Maurcie Mongahan the games were of a high quality.

The club are delighted with the news that they will host some of the Connacht under age boys finals in Strandhill on May 1ST and May 2nd. More details will be know in the coming weeks and it will require all hands on deck to ensure the event is run off smoothly. Anyone who is prepared to help out at any stage over the weekend is asked to contact club secretary Maurice Monaghan.

GREAT TURNOUT FOR ST PATRICKS DAY PARADE

There was a great turnout for our annual march in the saint Patricks day parade. The club looked great with all the players in their green hoodies and showing their skills with the footballs all the way around the long parade route this year.

PICK A WINNER OFF TO A GOOD START

Our new pick a winner competition started off last weekend. There are over 100 people entered in the competition and week one is off and running. Well done to organiser Paul Higgins and his fellow finance committee members Brian McDermott and Brian Redmond.

NORTH WEST CUP COMMITTEE MEETING ON THURSDAY NIGHT

Plans are developing for the North West Cup in August 2010. Last years tournament was an outstanding success and great credit was due to tournament director, Marcus White, and his organising committee. The first meeting for the organising committee will be held on Thursday night at 10pm in the clubrooms. Anyone interested in getting involved in helping with the tournament can come along on Thursday night or contact Marcus.

FUIND RAISER STARTS WITH PICK A WINNER

Strand Celtic have announced a great new fund raiser called PICK A WINNER. Simply pick two teams each week from the premiership and after ten weeks if you are top of the table you can win €500.

STRAND CELTIC ENTER CONNACHT UNDER 18 LEAGUE

The Connacht FA is establishing a Connacht youth league for some of the provinces top sides. Strand Celtic is very grateful to be one of those clubs and also to Dessie Cawley for taking on the management position. Dessie has done tireless work with our under 16 and under 18 squads this season and his enthusiasm and coaching nous is a great assert to the club.

INFORMATION EVENING A GREAT SUCCESS

Strand Celtic held an Information Evening in the clubhouse on thursday night, January 28th, at 8:30pm. The purpose of the evening was to inform all our parents and members of all the work undertaken in the club and our future plans including the provision of a playground.

COFFEE MORNING FOR HAITI IN CLUBHOUSE ON SAT 30th

The club are hosting a coffee morning for Haiti on saturday next from 11:30 until 3pm at the clubhouse. Please come along and support the event to riase funds for this needy cause.
