UNDER 16 CONNACHT CUP: STRAND CELTIC 0 MERVUE UNITED 2

Our under 16 squad exited the FAI Under 16 cup to last years All Ireland finalists, Mervue United from Galway, on Saturday afternoon last at a sunny strandhill community park. A late goal put a slight gloss on the scoreline although our lads were always up against it over the ninety minutes.

Strand Celtic Greens had a comprehensive victory over a gallant Ballygawley/Innisfree side on Saturday afternoon last. While a combination of injuries and holidays left managers AJ Cogan, Stephen Conway and Robert Ryan with a depleted squad the lads who were available turned in fine performances.

Our senior team had a good away win over Roscommon side, Cloonfad United, in the connacht cup on Sunday last. Our lads were the stronger team throughout and finished up as strong winners on a score line of four goals to one.

Our senior team had a fantastic victory over Boyle Celtic on Sunday morning last in strandhill. In a game originally scheduled for Boyle, but switched due to the weather, this match had everything with two penalties, a sending off and five goals.

Our under 12 squad advanced to the premier division of the under 12 league with a comprehensive victory over a gallant coolaney united team on Saturday morning last. On a wild morning our pitch was in excellent condition and despite the gale force wind both teams tried to play football throughout.
