UNDER 12 DEVT LEAGUE: YEATS UTD 2 STRAND CELTIC WHITES 4

Strand Celtic Whites continued to set the pace in the Under 12 development league by beating Yeats United Cubs by 4-2 in Oxfield on Saturday last.
On a very soft pitch,the lads started very well and dominated proceeding in the opening half.Jack Gilligan and Shay Doherty in central midfield along with Mickey Reddin and Ronan Walsh out wide created chance after chance for our front two,shane McCallion and Cian Bree-Galvin and only resolute last ditch defending kept Yeats in it.On 20 minuites we made the breakthrough with Cian Bree-Galvin netting a fine goal after some great build up play down our left hand side.
Despite the heavy pitch our passing and movement was first class with every one working very hard for each other.However,five minuites after going in front,we were hit with a counter attack and conceeded a goal cmpletely against the run of play.It was hard luck on the lads and we began to rue our missed chances.Just before half time we went in front again with a scrambled goal tucked away by Ronan walsh.We finished the half out very strong,keeping Yeats pinned in their own half.
Halftime saw us go in 2-1 up.
We came out very determined in the secnd half and continued to make most of the running.Yeats,were now also getting a foothold and they themselves were applying some pressure with our goalkeeper,Jack Burke making numerous great saves.Our back four of Daniel Killgallon,Liam Ryan,Captain Liam Fitzgerald and Liam Henehan were now very much involved and defended soundly through out the second half.Dion Higgins,David Gaynor and Ben Carrol came on the give us fresh legs and all plyed very well.
Two more goals from Shane McCallion and Ronan Walsh put us in control with Jack,Shay,Shane and Ronan all nearly adding to the scoreline.
A last minuite consolation from Yeats could not take the gloss off another great preformance.Well done to all the squad. |
