Former Strand Celtic and Sligo Rovers player, John Lynch, was appointed as the manager of our senior team last week.
John has great experience and everyone was delighted that he agreed to step into the role. John got off to a winning start with a fine victory over Cloonfad United on Sunday afternoon last in the Connacht Cup. Everyone at the club wishes John well in his new role.
The club committee also extends sincere thanks to Mick Mooney who has managed the team through the end of last season and got the team off to a fine start this season. Mick picked up the club when we had lost over half our first team squad to Sligo Rovers and brought a strong spirit back into the team and club. He has built on that this season to get the team challenging for the title and progressing in the cups. Unfortunately Mick had to step down due to time commitments but Mick will remain involved with the club helping out with our Nippers Academy on Saturdays. Indeed Mick’s daughter looks like becoming a star of the future !. |
