Super League: Strand Celtic 3 Boyle Celtic 2
Strandhill Community Park
Our senior team had a fantastic victory over Boyle Celtic on Sunday morning last in strandhill. In a game originally scheduled for Boyle, but switched due to the weather, this match had everything with two penalties, a sending off and five goals.
Dean Deering opened the scoring for Strand with an early goal. Despite this Boyle came back into the game and John Maughan equalised through a controversial penalty. Boyle had another penalty superbly saved moments later that could have had Strand in serious trouble. Strand went back in front through a Donagh Oates goal to take a one goal advantage into the break.
Boyle came back strongly in the second half and grabbed a deserved equaliser. Then Jonathan Lynch got sent off for a second yellow card offence and it looked like curtains for the home team. But then up popped Adam Mcloughlin to grab a winner with an overhead kick for the ten men and complete a fantastic result for the home team. |
