BOYS UNDER 12 LEAGUE: STRAND CELTIC   6   REAL TUBBER  2
Strandhill Community Park

In a cracking match strand celtic opened their league campaign with a victory over a gallant real tubber side. Despite the scoreline this was always a tight game and it was only in the latter stages that strand managed to secure victory.

Strand opened brightly with James Hampson turning in another stirring performance on the right hand side. His persverance saw him secure the ball at the end line and after a mix up in the tubber defence Cian McGovern was on hand to fire home.

The midfield battles were intense with the superb Jason Perry battling with the strand midfield of Ryan McManus and Mark McCallion. Jason Perry had a good effort saved by Matthew Cosgrove. Then fifteen minutes in good work from Jack Keegan saw Cian McGovern grab his second. Tubber then came back strongly and had two good long range efforts go narrowly wide. Then five minutes from half time Tubber grabbed a lifeline when Jason Perry flicked on a free kick to narrow the deficit.

The second half was close in the early stages but two quick goals by Jack Keegan and Mark McCallion saw strand steal a march. Despite this Tubber should have had at least one goal as first JAson Perry struck the crossbar with a fantastic shot and this was followed by a great shot from Cian Ginty that hit the post.

With Ronan Redmond and Jackson Smith dominant at the back it was difficult at this stage for Tubber. Ryan McManus added another goal coupled with a second from Jack Keegan secured victory for strand with Tubber finishing with a late penalty.

The game was well refereed by Ronnie Cawley.

Team: Matthew Cosgrove, Darren Harte, Cathal Henry, Ronan Redmond, Jackson Smith, James Hampson, Mark McCallion, Ryan McManus, Cian McGovern, Jack Keegan, Luke Nicolson, David Hines, Dylan Doherty, Aiden Kenny, Niall Murray.

Players man of the match award went to Ryan McManus with Ronan Redmond, Jackson Smith, MArk McCallion, Cian McGovern and Matthew Cosgrove also polling well and going within one vote of Ryan.
