U17 LEAGUE: YEATS UTD 2 STRAND CELTIC 2

Our Under 17 side played out an exciting two all draw with Yeats United on the new astro surface at Celveragh on Saturday afternoon last. After a dull first half the game came to life in the second half with four goals in the last twenty minutes.

The first half started slowly and both sides struggled to settle. Strand had some early chances and Ronan Walsh and Mark McCallion had goal bound shots blocked. At the other end Kevin Kelly was to alert to any danger.

The second half was a much more open affair with chances at both ends. Strand went close when a shot from David Joyce rattled the post while at the other end it took a superb save low to his right friom Kevin Kelly to keep Yeats at bay. Then with twenty minutes to go a through ball from Mark McCallion after good work by David Joyce set Ronan Walsh free and he fired home. It was the same pairing moments later when a McCallion chip sent Walsh free again and he repeated his first goal. Yeats though never gave up and two late goals from the speedy Lee Currid.
