U12 WIN THRILLER AGAINST YEATS UNITED

U12 LEAGUE: Strand Celtic 2 Yeats Utd 1
Strandhill

In a clash similar to the U12 development final of last season, a great game of football was played by both sides but the result was in favour of the home side on this ocassion. Captained very ably by Cormac Murray, Strand went into an early lead due to the quick reactions of Matthew Conlon Oates. Strand were all over Yeats then so it was no surprise when Finn Murphy took his goal chance.

Yeats came roaring back and but a piledriver from Ruadhan Feeney hit the post. There was to be no let up and Yeats got their goal a few minutes later. It continued to be nip and tuck for the rest of the first half. Strand made a number of changes and Alan Scanlon, David Rattigan and Jack O doherty all played very well when introduced. Both teams went for it with each team hitting the crossbar. The home goalkeeper Mark Connell made a string of good saves and when he was beaten, Mark Cavanagh was on hand to clear the danger. A high standard of football was played ,in a good spirit, by both teams.
