BOYS UNDER 12 LEAGUE: BOYLE CELTIC 0 STRAND CELTIC 2

Our under twelve side advanced to the league play offs with a fine two nil win over a strong Boyle Celtic side on Saturday afternoon last.

With the pitch in fine condition it suited our lads fine flowing football. The first half was dominated by strand Celtic and an early goal with a superb strike by Shay Doherty set them on their way. After Shane McCallion hit the crossbar with a header and Fiachra Cogan went close, the second goal arrived. Fiachra Cogan fired home from close range after good work by Fionn Morrisey and Jack Gilligan. Jack Burke had to be alert before half time to react to a fine shot and then right on half time a great strike left the Strand Celtic post shaking.

Boyle came back into the game in the early part of the second half and were unlucky on a few occasions. Jack Burke was playing a sweeper role as the goalkeeper and stopped several attacked. Strand came into the game again in the latter stages and both Corban Kenny and Shane McCallion had good chances. In the end this was a great result that guarantees the under twelve squad a play off position.
