COLTS TRIP A GREAT SUCCESS WITH 50 GAMES PLAYED !

Sunday, June 07, 2009 By @ 11:39 PM :: Club News

Our Colts academy undertook their annual trip to galway on Sunday afternoon last. Nearly eighty kids form under 7,8, 9 and 10 travelled in expectation on our annual outing to the Drom Stadium.

As ever Salthill were superb hosts as our lads faced a battery of fixtures with over fifty games played over the day. The fixtures were grouped into under 8 and under 10 teams with all the teams equipping themselves well. Inevitably with such a range of teams the results fluctuated from team to team but it never deterred any of our teams.

There were some great individual performances with the addition of some of our soccer sisters shining also in the sunshine. Players such as Ellen Monaghan, Katie Melly, Amber Ferry, Grainne Egan, Emer Osborne, Katie Osborne, Elizabeth Bartlett and Eimear MCCallion left some of the Salthill boys in their wake. Drom is a marvellous venue with over ten astro turf pitches and four superb grass pitches. What a day was had by all !.

Photos will be available on our website from next weekend at www.strandceltic.com

Thanks to all the coaches and parents who travelled. Without their support each year a trip such as this would not be possible. Well done to the organisers Brendan Crowne and Gerry Doherty who co-ordinated events well and ensured all kids travelled and returned – always a priority on these trips!.
