SUPER LEAGUE: STRAND CELTIC 1 CITY UNITED 2
Sean Fallon Park
Strand Celtic senior team fell just short on friday night last in their league title clash with rivals city united at sean Fallon park. In front of a large crowd our lads went down by the odd goal in three and sees them now rely on other teams beating City United in their remaining three games.
Our lads opened the brightest and scored ten minutes in with a Donagh Oates goal. City equalised just before half time with a good finish by marshall. Then moments before half time were denied a penalty after a handball when advantage was played. City took control in the early stages of the second half and scored with fifteen minutes to go putting them two one up. Despite some late pressure our lads just could not make the breakthrough that would have brought them a deserved equaliser.
On the night Brian Dunne and Marcel Gordon were resolute at the back. In midfield Brian McMorrow and David Brush were strong throughout with some lovely touches while up front Donagh Oates and Dean Deering toiled hard. Well done to manager John Lynch for taking the side into the title challenge this season.
