Shaun Williams claimed the 2010 Players Football Association of Ireland (PFAI) Young Player of the Year award on Saturday as voted by his peers in the Airtricity League
Shaun’s accomplished season for Fingal, during which he represented the Ireland Under-23s and the Airtricity League against Manchester United, drew acclaim for his fellow players who chose him above a competitive field of nominees.
The midfielder was the mainstay of Liam Buckley’s side which finished fourth in their first foray into the Premier Division to repeat their Europa League qualification feat of twelve months prior.
The Malahide native was the only player in the league to be nominated for both the Senior and Young player categories. Richie Ryan of Sligo Rovers landed that particular award.
Congratulations from everybody at the club to Shaun, who is pictured above at the official opening of the mini-pitch in Seabury, Malahide alongside fellow Fingal player Conan Byrne and other attendees.
