Skipper back for Oriel visit

Friday, October 22, 2010 By John Fallon @ 1:35 AM :: Club News

Sporting Fingal will aim to continue their European qualification quest when they visit Oriel Park to face Dundalk on Friday night.

Eleven points from a possible 15 in the last five matches has lifted Liam Buckley’s side into fourth place, leaving their destiny in their own hands with two matches to play.

Captain Shaun Williams, who has scored in each of the last two league meetings with the Lilywhites when his side claimed full points, returns from suspension to face his former club.

Colm James is ruled out with a knee injury while Shaun Maher’s hamstring strain makes him doubtful.

“The last few results have given us a great chance to finish in the top four,” said Buckley. “It’s been an exciting finale in that respect with St. Patrick’s Athletic trying to catch us while we’re on the tails of third-placed Sligo. Finishing above either or both of them good teams can only be achieved with a continuation of our form.

“Dundalk set themselves up well and have plenty of pace and craft in their ranks. They’ve beaten every side in the Division except us this season and we want to avoid a slip-up.”
