Special mention goes to our Under-20 and A Championship squads for their recent performances and results which have kept them in the reckoning for more silverware.
The Under-20s beat Drogheda United 1-0 in the quarter-final last weekend to set up a semi-final against Shamrock Rovers, who defeated Mervue United 4-2.
To go one better last year’s quarter-final, at least so far, is a testament to the work put in by Jacko McDonagh and Robbie Moen as well as the dedicated group of players.
Fingal's win over Drogheda United the quarter-final last weekend was hard fought.
Both teams played some excellent stuff at times with defences coming out on top during the first half.
Jake Rossitor, Karl Connaghton, Kevin Boyd, captain Robbie Gaul and Philip Hand were superb throughout for Fingal with substitute Niall Masterson the hero after replacing Paul White who had worked extremely hard for the 70 minutes he was on the pitch.
Masterson took less than five minutes to make his mark - heading home on the line after Mark Cashen setting it up by lobbing the Drogheda goalkeeper.
The final ten minutes was hectic with Drogheda throwing players forward looking for the equaliser but Fingal held on to progress.
The same can be said of Robbie Horgan and Shaun Maher leading our A Championship side.
They face Drogheda United on Saturday in the ALSSA club on the Old Airport Road at 2pm where victory could qualify them for a place in the final if leaders Bohemians drop points against Finn Harps.
Best of luck to all concerned.
