u14 DEFEAT TUBBER IN TOUGH CLASH

U14 LEAGUE: STRAND CELTIC 4 REAL TUBBER 1
Strandhill Community Park

On a wet and windy day our U14 side bounced back from their recent defeat to league leaders Ballisodare with a fine win over an excellent Real Tubber side. After a good opening period Strand took the lead when some good footwork by Shane McCallion saw him fire home from close range. Jack Burke had to be alert at the other end as Gaughan and Perry both went close for Tubber.

Turning over one up but facing a strong wind Strand kept possession well and Aaron Rooney turned in a fine performance linking in well with Jack Gilligan on the right hand side. Despite this Gaughan grabbed a superb equaliser for Tubber mid way through the half with a brilliant shot from the edge of the box. Tubber had a brief spell of dominance but Cathal Byrne and Donagjh Crowne worked hard to keep them out. Then a Shane MCCallion shot was saved from the edge of the box and Marc Ryan followed up to rifle home. Fiachra Cogan added two late goals with a fine header and good finish from close range to keep the scoreline a unbalanced look.

This was a good performance from the U14 and a win from their next game should see them qualify for the league semi finals.
