Our under 16 girls team, who have done an outstanding job this season in claiming their league title, went down to a strong Saint Francis team in the national cup semi-final on Saturday afternoon last.

Without their talismanic captain, Emma Hansberry, who was called into the Republic of Ireland U17 World cup training camp in Arsenal, this was simply a bridge too far. Only one nil down coming into the break a goal either side of half time sealed the game for the Dublin side. Our girls never gave up and were a credit to themselves, the club and their families as they continued to battle right to the end. A match report appears elsewhere in the paper.
