Airtricity League of Ireland club Sporting Fingal have today confirmed the appointment of Philip Nolan to the position of new Commercial Manager.
Mr. Nolan joins the club having worked for St. Patrick’s Athletic FC during the previous seven years in a number of roles, which included responsibility for Commercial and Club Licensing management.
Sporting Fingal will be competing in their second season of top-flight football this season, having joined the League of Ireland in only 2007.
The new campaign for Fingal kicks off in two weeks time with their first ever Setanta Sports Cup game against Lisburn Distillery at Dalymount Park (7.45pm) and Nolan is relishing his new role with the club.
"I am looking forward to the challenge at Sporting Fingal,” he said.
“Sporting Fingal represents a vast community of 250,000 people in North Dublin and I look forward to working with all the population of Fingal to help make Sporting Fingal a football club that the community can be proud of and participate in.
“Competing in the UEFA Europa League for the second season in a row, having qualified by finishing fourth last season, will be fanastic for the community of Fingal.
"European football helped put the county of Fingal on the map last season and repeating that will help us attract new people to our games."
John O’Brien, secretary of Sporting Fingal FC, spoke highly of Philip Nolan’s credentials for the position.
He said: “Retaining and expanding our portfolio of sponsors and advertisers is an integral aspect to the club’s sustainability and I believe Philip Nolan is the ideal individual to help us achieve that.
“His reputation and track record for professionalism within the domestic league is outstanding and, despite the difficult prevailing market conditions, we believe that in Philip we’ve recruited a Commercial Manager of the highest calibre.”
Sporting Fingal Director of Football Liam Buckley also endorsed the appointment, by stating:
“Philip’s combination of business skills and passion for the Airtricity League makes him the perfect signing for the role.
“Sporting Fingal FC has grown year on year since the club’s inception and it’s only with the knowledge of key personnel such as Philip can we take this unique project to the next level that I know we’re capable of.”
